As of October 3, 2026, there is no open Kit Digital call: the last ones closed on October 31, 2025. Meanwhile, many Spanish small businesses and freelancers are still using the website, online store or chatbot a digitizing agent built for them with the voucher, and not all of them work. This guide sums up what the programme’s official rules say, who you can ask or complain to, how to spot a suspicious phone call, and what real alternatives exist today if you want to fix it or start again.
Is any Kit Digital call open in October 2026?
No. The programme’s official site at Red.es lists five calls in three years and dates the last closings: calls I and II on December 31, 2024, call V (medium-sized companies) on June 30, 2025, and calls III and IV on October 31, 2025. The Kit Digital page on Acelera pyme puts it in one line: «Las convocatorias del Programa Kit Digital han finalizado» (the Kit Digital calls have ended).
In January 2026 the Ministry published Order TDF/39/2026, which amends the rules. It keeps the programme in force until the funds are fully used, requires Red.es to reinvest any unspent budget “even after 2026”, and allows that money to fund new calls when appropriate. It also requires new award proposals for applicants who missed out because the budget ran out, if funds become available. None of this opens a new application window. If someone offers to “process your Kit Digital” today, ask for the call number and check it on Red.es’s e-office.
The only Red.es call on AI for small businesses open right now is the C012/26-IA invitation, with a maximum budget of 40 million euros and a deadline of November 10, 2026 at 23:59 (Madrid time). It works differently: only professional and business associations and registered technology or technology innovation support centres can apply, and what gets signed are agreements to build AI use cases and offer AI platforms as a service to startups and SMEs. According to the Ministry’s press release, Red.es funds up to 80% of each agreement, capped at 12 million, and each agreement lasts two years. A small business can’t apply on its own, although it can ask its trade association whether it plans to take part.
What the digitizing agent had to give you
The rules are in the programme’s regulatory bases, Order ETD/1498/2021, and their amendments. These are the parts that matter when something stops working:
- The service has two phases. In the first, three months at most, the solution is installed and the invoice issued. The second lasts twelve months from the date of that invoice (article 22).
- Every solution must include incident support with a resolution time under 24 hours, customer service by phone and email, and the training you need to use it (article 13).
- The conditions of the solution published in the catalogue bind the agent once it signs the agreement with you (article 12).
- For the website category, Order ETD/734/2022 requires at least twelve months of hosting, a mobile-friendly site that meets WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, and a content management system so you can change the content without depending on the provider. If the domain was registered with the voucher, it has to be owned entirely by you.
Red.es checks the participating agents on an ongoing basis. If it finds a breach, it can remove all of the agent’s solutions from the catalogue, on top of repayments and penalties (article 10.7). The rules also state that joining the programme means committing to “good practices” with businesses.
What you can do if your website or chatbot isn’t working
Start with the paperwork. On the Kit Digital processing platform, in the beneficiary area, you’ll find your service agreements and their status. Check which solution you signed up for, the invoice date and whether you are still within the twelve months of phase two. If you are, the under-24-hour support is part of what your voucher paid for.
Write to the agent and describe the fault with dates and screenshots. No official procedure requires this, but an email with evidence helps with everything that comes after. If the agent doesn’t reply or doesn’t fix it, call the programme helpline on 900 909 001 or use the Acelera pyme contact form, which is the channel Red.es points to for Kit Digital questions.
Ask for what is yours as well. If you have a website, get access to the content management system and check whose name the domain is in. With both, another provider can take the site over even if the original agent disappears.
Be careful before withdrawing from the agreement on your own. Since Order TDF/435/2024, if you withdraw after the first payment and don’t voluntarily return what was paid, a repayment procedure is opened. Call 900 909 001 before you take that step.
If you suspect the aid was used fraudulently, there is a dedicated channel for EU funds: Infofraude, run by Spain’s National Anti-Fraud Coordination Service. You can report under your name or anonymously. The page itself warns that sending information doesn’t make you a party to the case or entitle you to know the outcome.
Calls that claim to come from Kit Digital
On October 1, an X user, @Luismi_65, described a call he had received: «Hola,le llamo de la Cámara de Comercio para hacer una auditoria del KIT DIGITAL. Se tiene que conectar a una llamada Teams.» (Hello, I’m calling from the Chamber of Commerce to audit your KIT DIGITAL. You need to join a Teams call.) He didn’t trust it and hung up. That’s his account, and we don’t know who was calling.
The Spanish Chamber of Commerce is in fact a collaborating body in the programme and carries out follow-up and verification of the aid (article 14 of the rules), so the name alone doesn’t tell you whether a call is genuine. What you can do is hang up and check it yourself by calling 900 909 001.
INCIBE, Spain’s national cybersecurity institute, explains vishing, fraud by phone call: the scammer poses as a public body or a tech support service, creates urgency and sometimes asks you to install a program. Its advice is to hang up at the first doubt, not to follow links or install anything, to check with the organisation through its official channels, and to report it to the police with whatever evidence you have. If you’re unsure, INCIBE’s cybersecurity helpline answers on 017, free of charge, and also serves businesses and professionals.
Real alternatives while there is no Kit Digital
There is no voucher to apply for today, so you pay for any fix yourself. That’s why it makes sense to start with what you already have. If the domain is yours and you have access to the CMS, it’s often enough for another provider to review, update and maintain the site. Rebuilding from scratch isn’t always necessary.
If what’s failing is a chatbot, work out what it really needs to do before replacing it. We explain how assistants that answer from your website’s content work, including by voice, in an AI chatbot for your website, and what it costs to run one in the real cost of an AI agent.
With any provider, with public aid or without it, ask in writing whose name the domain, the code and the data will be in, how much maintenance costs after the first year, and who handles an incident and how fast. If they can’t make that clear before you sign, it’s unlikely to get clearer when something breaks.
How LetBrand can help
We build chatbots for businesses that answer from your documents and your catalogue, and that can grow into taking actions with permission. If you need to present your business or a proposal, we turn your deck into a presentation microsite with an agent that answers questions about that content. If you want to know what can be saved from what you have and what it would cost, ask us for a quote.
